Columbus, Ohio – Gifthealth, a fast-growing healthcare technology company dedicated to making prescription care more accessible and affordable, will be creating 751 new jobs in the Columbus Region following project approval by the Columbus City Council on Monday evening. The newly approved expansion will support Gifthealth’s ongoing growth, bringing its total workforce to over 800 employees in Columbus by the end of 2027. The project is the third largest in the history of One Columbus.
“This project marks an exciting new chapter for Gifthealth as we continue to grow our footprint in the Columbus Region,” said John Romano, President and Co-Founder of Gifthealth. “We’re proud to be expanding in a community that has supported us since the beginning, and we look forward to bringing new opportunities and making a positive impact on the lives of patients here and beyond.”
The expansion includes the lease of a 30,000-square-foot facility in west Columbus, which will serve as the company’s pharmacy distribution center. The new positions will span a wide range of roles, including pharmacists, technicians, patient care representatives, support staff, and management, contributing to a total new payroll of $56.5 million. This significant growth is being driven by a major contract for the distribution of a new prescription drug and Gifthealth’s continued success in transforming how patients access and afford essential medications. “Gifthealth’s rapid growth and job creation underscore Ohio’s appeal as a destination for forward-thinking companies seeking to scale their operations,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “By leveraging Ohio’s strengths in both technology and healthcare, Gifthealth is demonstrating what’s possible when innovation and opportunity come together to support better health outcomes for residents across the country.”
Founded in 2020, Gifthealth combines technology with a patient-first approach to remove barriers in the prescription process, making it easier for patients to receive the care they need. The company’s innovative platform simplifies prescription approvals and reduces administrative burdens for prescribers, ultimately creating a more efficient and cost-effective solution for patients and healthcare providers alike.
“Gifthealth’s expansion is a testament to Columbus’ talented, educated workforce, and our regional assets that make Columbus a hub for healthcare and technology innovation,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “This project not only brings hundreds of good-paying jobs to our community but also demonstrates our ability to attract and support growing companies that are making a difference in people’s lives.”
“I wholeheartedly believe that Columbus is well on its way to establishing itself as one of the best cities in the country for technology innovation and healthcare,” said Columbus City Councilmember Nick Bankston. “I am excited for the economic impact Gifthealth’s expansion will bring to our region, but more importantly, I am excited to see the positive impact this project will have on our residents.”
“After establishing its business in Columbus four years ago, Gifthealth’s newest plans will expand its workforce from 50 to more than 800,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “The company’s rapid growth is a testament to the ingenuity of the people of Ohio, who are driving market demand for Gifthealth’s technology that is improving efficiencies and ensuring caregivers can provide the treatment their patients need.”
