Columbus, OH – Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of products for the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) industries, has announced plans for a $7.8 million expansion to its existing Columbus Region distribution facility, located at 4800 Roberts Road. The commitment, which will also add 50 jobs to the company’s existing roster of 307, is contingent upon final approval from the City of Columbus.

“This significant expansion and jobs commitment speaks volumes about the history and confidence we have in the Columbus Region,” said Pat McCurdy, president, Kimball Midwest.

The $7.8 million investment from PEDC Property Management, Inc. includes the addition of 130,000 square feet to Kimball Midwest’s existing distribution facility, as well as the 40,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of its connected administrative office. Additionally, Kimball Midwest intends to purchase new machinery and equipment to support the expansion.

Hiring for the 50 new jobs, which include warehousing, distribution and back-office support positions, is expected to begin in early 2015. All positions will be filled within three years.

“It’s always encouraging to see longtime Columbus Region companies continuing to grow and expand in Central Ohio,” said Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman. “We are happy to assist in Kimball Midwest’s success, and proud they continue to call Columbus home.”
