Columbus, Ohio (December 7, 2022)Safecor Health, LLC, a national leader in unit dose drug packaging services for hospitals, long-term care providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and digital health companies has announced plans to expand its Columbus headquarters, investing ~$4.0 million. With this investment, the company will create 100 new full-time administrative, production and sales positions, with hiring to begin in Q1 2023 pending state and local approvals.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Safecor Health opened its current headquarters in 2011. The company currently occupies a nearly 50,000-square-foot building at 4060 Business Park Drive and will be expanding with an adjacent second facility at 4000 Business Park Drive. Following the expansion, the company’s total footprint in the area will be approximately 100,000 square feet. The company plans to shift significant production operations to its second facility, streamlining processes to create efficiencies, and hiring new talent to support growth. The company is investing in building costs, new machinery and equipment, training programs and IT services.

“Since moving into our Columbus headquarters in 2011, Safecor has experienced tremendous growth made possible by doubling the size of our current facility and investing in our employees and key systems. Those investments have provided the infrastructure needed to dramatically expand our customer relationships over the past 11 years,” said Sean Henderson, chief financial officer of Safecor. “Our latest expansion is critical to meeting the demands of a strong and growing market for packaging services. We’re excited to expand our local footprint and national capabilities.”

Safecor provides more than 1,000 hospitals and pharmacies nationwide with a safe and reliable system for repackaging non-sterile unit-dose products. The company also has a growing portfolio of commercial medications available for purchase through wholesalers and provides contract packaging services for drug manufacturers, group purchasing organizations, wholesalers, telehealth and direct-to-consumer companies. The company currently has ~175 full-time employees in Columbus and plans to increase its headcount by more than 50% with this latest investment.

“Safecor’s operations in the Columbus Region support the U.S. healthcare industry, highlighting the national impact on our local community,” said Andrew J. Ginther, mayor of Columbus. “The Region’s growing digital health ecosystem of innovative employers, top universities and world-class hospitals provide the perfect environment for companies like Safecor to thrive.”

From medical breakthroughs to cutting-edge technology, the Region has one of the most dynamic healthcare and life science industries in the country. In the past five years, the Columbus Region has granted over 8,700 degrees in biology, biomedical science, chemistry and pharmacy, and The Ohio State University ranks among the top colleges nationally in Biological and Biomedical Science and Engineering – all contributing to a highly-educated and trained talent pool. The City of Columbus is located in Franklin County, which is home to an estimated 1,323,807 residents.

“Since its founding in Ohio nearly 15 years ago, Safecor Health’s pharmaceutical packaging and repackaging services have improved patient safety and efficiencies for hospitals and pharmacies across the country,” said JobsOhio president and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “Safecor will bring more capacity to innovate and meet growing demand while nearly doubling its Columbus workforce with the addition of 100 new jobs.”
