Columbus, Ohio – WIKA Sensor Technology, a global leader in manufacturing force and pressure measurement technology, has announced plans to build a new 20,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Delaware County, Ohio, investing $3.25 million and creating 15 new jobs. Hiring for production positions will begin in Q1 2022.

“Expanding our physical footprint and local workforce in Central Ohio is key for WIKA to keep pace with our growth, particularly in aerospace,” said WIKA Sensor Technology General Manager Steve McCullough. “We have the knowledge and skill set available in the Columbus Region, so expanding our footprint, production capabilities and talented team here will position us to better serve our key market areas effectively.”

WIKA Sensor Technology plans to build its new state-of-the-art facility in Delaware County’s Creekside Business Park. Designed with future growth in mind, all staff will relocate to the new location, which will house additional product lines to serve the U.S. market and strengthen WIKA’s business within aerospace and other key industries. The company currently has 32 full time employees in the Columbus Region, almost doubling its local headcount with its latest investment.

“We’re thrilled that WIKA Sensor Technology is nearly doubling the size of its Delaware County workforce and bringing that growth to Creekside Business Park,” said Delaware County Economic Development Administrator Rob Platte. “The positive impact of this investment will expand employment opportunities for our community and further strengthen our manufacturing ecosystem.”

The Creekside Business Park is a collaborative effort between the Delaware County Board of Commissioners and the Delaware County Finance Authority to prepare shovel-ready sites in Delaware County. The Board of Commissioners and the Finance Authority partnered to establish incentives to make Creekside attractive to developers while also putting infrastructure in place to reduce build-out time.

WIKA Sensor Technology is a subsidiary of the WIKA Group. The company originally entered the Columbus Region in 1992 as force measurement manufacturer tecsis, LP, best known for its custom load cell systems and off-the-shelf force measurement portfolio. The steady integration of tecsis into the WIKA Group began in 2018 and was completed in 2021, resulting in the company’s name change to WIKA Sensor Technology. The new brand primarily serves industrial markets, focusing on automation, custom machine solutions, aerospace and OEM off-highway (mobile working machines).

“With talent from Ohio, WIKA is rapidly growing production of sensor technology, which is critical to improving efficiencies and safety in aerospace and other industries,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “WIKA’s new, cutting-edge facility in the Columbus Region is an example of the leading role Ohio will play as sensor manufacturing technology continues to evolve and is more evidence that Ohio’s manufacturing industry and workforce is experiencing a generational resurgence.”

Manufacturing operations in the Columbus Region are diverse, spanning industries from automotive and electronics to machinery, materials, aerospace and consumer goods. The Region is home to over 1,700 manufacturing establishments with nearly 90,000 employees, resulting in more than $15 billion in annual economic output. Businesses in the Region have access to a steady pipeline of talent, fed by numerous career and technical training centers that partner with businesses to provide the training and skills needed for manufacturing. Delaware County is home to 214,124 residents.
