Columbus, Ohio – One Columbus, the economic development organization for the 11-county Columbus Region, has been named a recipient of the 2020 Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development by Site Selection magazine, a national publication geared toward those in the decision-making process for expansions and relocations. One Columbus is one of 20 economic development groups selected for this annual award.

The Mac Conway Award winners are determined by an index of corporate job creation and facility-related capital investment data calculated both cumulatively and per capita. The rankings’ methodology is based on data from the proprietary Conway Projects Database, which tracks private-sector facility projects worldwide, and several other global economic data sources.

“One Columbus is honored to be recognized on behalf of our entire public-private coalition,” said Kenny McDonald, president and CEO of One Columbus. “The power of our regional approach, and the strength of our partnerships locally and nationally will serve us well during the difficult months ahead.”

The Mac Conway Awards are named after the founder of Conway and Site Selection magazine, McKinley “Mac” Conway, to recognize the work of outstanding economic development organizations and the important contribution they make to grow their respective local economies.

The Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Cincinnati joins One Columbus as a recipient of the 2020 Mac Conway Award. The state of Ohio also received recognition from Site Selection this year, ranking No. five in the magazine’s 2020 Prosperity Cup.

Under One Columbus’ former name, Columbus 2020, the organization was named a recipient of the 2018 and 2019 Mac Conway Award for Excellence and received an Honorable Mention at the Mac Conway Awards in 2017. Earlier this year, the Columbus Region also took the No. 8 spot on Site Selection magazine’s ‘Top 10 Metro Areas’ list, with 92 new and expanded facilities in 2019. The list, which the Columbus Region has made eight times in the past eight years, looks at new facilities and expansions that involve a capital investment of at least U.S. $1 million, the creation of at least 20 new jobs or adding at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area.
