Columbus, Ohio – Condado Tacos, a build-your-own-taco restaurant founded in 2014, has announced plans to expand its headquarters in Columbus, investing $150,000 and creating 27 new jobs. Hiring for management, accounting, HR, operations and IT positions will begin in Q4 2018. The company will put the capital investment toward technology and leasehold improvements to bolster its local presence and supplement its long-term growth strategy in the Midwest and across the nation.
“When we started Condado Tacos in the Short North in 2014, we hoped and dreamed the concept would take off,” said Joe Kahn, founder and owner of Condado. “We wanted to create a laid-back hang out spot where people could enjoy great food and as the company has grown, we’re thrilled to be able to expand that vision into reinvesting in our hometown.”
Condado is headquartered at 250 South High Street, where it houses its operational, administrative, food preparation and distribution functions.
“It’s truly an honor to be able to offer jobs to more people in our home city and beyond as Condado Tacos grows nationwide,” said Kahn. “We think we have something special here in Columbus. We’re excited to make new fans as Condado Tacos expands and bring some of the city’s creativity, innovation and passion for food to new markets in the form of delicious tacos.”
Since its founding, Condado has expanded to several markets in Ohio, as well as Indiana and Pennsylvania. Most recently, Condado opened a new 4,500-square-foot taqueria at 8958 Lyra Drive in The Pointe at Polaris. Condado plans to expand into Michigan and Kentucky by 2020, with the overall goal of establishing a presence in 20 locations by the end of that year. After successful growth across the Midwest, Condado is looking to ultimately expand to markets nationwide.
“We’re thrilled to see another locally grown company add jobs and expand its headquarters in Columbus,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “We’re proud that we can continue to provide the right business support and talent pipeline for companies like Condado Tacos to succeed in our region and across the country.”
The Columbus Region is home to 196 food and beverage establishments that together generate $2.2 billion in annual economic output. The Region is also a top choice for company headquarters, including fast-food giants like Wendy’s and White Castle, as well as 14 Fortune 1000 companies and five Fortune 500 companies.
“Condado Tacos is experiencing rapid growth throughout the Midwest, and we are delighted this successful restaurant is headquartered in the Columbus Region,” said Joe Needham, JobsOhio director for food and agribusiness. “This expansion will bring 27 new jobs to the facility while supporting Condado’s growth into new regions of the country.”
