Columbus, OH – Columbus 2020, the economic development organization for the 11-county Columbus Region, announced today that its One of US marketing campaign received first place marketing honors from the Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC). The award was presented during MAEDC’s annual Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum held Dec. 4-6 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago.

MAEDC’s Marketing Program Award was created to showcase comprehensive marketing programs that successfully market a community, county, state, or region to prospective companies and businesses. Columbus 2020 was awarded first place in the large division category for its One of US marketing campaign, which was created to generate awareness about the Columbus Region’s diverse economy, highlight the many national and global brands that drive the Region’s economic success, and celebrate the spirit of collaboration that drives the Columbus Region forward. One of US is now integrated throughout Columbus 2020’s overall marketing program, within advertising placements, marketing collateral and digital marketing executions.

A partnership of nine organizations – AEP Ohio, Battelle, Chase, Express, Huntington Bank, M/I Homes, Nationwide, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Safelite AutoGlass– worked together with Columbus 2020 to launch the campaign at John Glenn Columbus International Airport earlier this year.

“We are proud and grateful to receive the highest honors from MAEDC for the One of US campaign,” said Irene Alvarez, managing director, marketing and communications, Columbus 2020. “The launch of this campaign was made possible by many companies and organizations who came together to do what our region does best – collaborate. This widespread adoption of the Columbus brand has made an extraordinary impact on our efforts to market the Columbus Region.”

MAEDC’s Marketing Program Award is one of several marketing honors that Columbus 2020 has received this year for its One of US campaign. The campaign also won first place awards at the state and national level, including the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) gold award and the Ohio Economic Development Association’s Excellence in Economic Development Marketing Award.
