Chris Strayer Elected Board President for the Mid-America Economic Development Council

Columbus, OH – Chris Strayer, senior project manager of Columbus 2020, was elected today president of the board for the Mid-America Economic Development Council (Mid-America EDC). His appointment was announced at the organization’s annual Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum in Chicago, IL.

The Mid-America EDC is a multi-state association dedicated to providing resources, making connections and sharing best practices for economic development professionals and organizations in the Mid-America region – Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Mid-America EDC’s focus is to connect and convene resources for its members to compete as a region on the national and international economic development stages.

Strayer brings to the Mid-America EDC more than 15 years of land use planning, civil and environmental engineering, construction, land development and government experience. He plays a critical role at Columbus 2020, working to connect companies in the Columbus Region with resources to help them start or grow. He also leads the SiteOhio site certification process for the Columbus Region. Strayer was the recipient of Ohio Statewide Development Corporation’s 2016 Economic Partner of the Year recognition.

The Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum is the organization’s marquee event, focusing on corporate location and relocation, and business retention. The conference provides an opportunity for members to network with site selection consultants, make regional economic development contacts and learn what other states in the region are doing to stay competitive.
