Columbus, Ohio — ANS, one of the nation’s fastest-growing multidisciplinary engineering firms serving the renewable energy and power industries, is establishing its national headquarters in Downtown Columbus, creating 13 new jobs in addition to its existing 47 local positions.

The company has purchased and is renovating a historic building at 34-38 W. Gay St. to serve as its new headquarters, relocating from its current Columbus office in the Brewery District. The project supports the company’s continued national expansion while bringing executive leadership and corporate operations together in Downtown Columbus.

Founded in 2005, ANS is an award-winning multidisciplinary engineering firm delivering geotechnical, civil, structural, electrical, environmental and laboratory testing services for clients across the renewable energy, power and infrastructure sectors. The firm supports projects spanning solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), substations, transmission, and other critical infrastructure that powers communities across the country. Through its integrated, multidisciplinary approach, ANS helps clients solve complex infrastructure challenges while accelerating project delivery.

ANS selected Columbus for its national headquarters because of the Columbus Region’s central location, strong talent base, quality of life and access to customers across the country. Company leaders also pointed to the city’s business environment and civic culture as key factors, citing the support they found in Central Ohio as the company scaled from a small local presence into a national firm.

“Columbus stood out to us as a place where a growing company could build for the long term, and a place which supported an incredible quality of life for our team” said Vatsal Shah, CEO of ANS. “The talent base, the business climate and the sense of community all made a real impression. We have grown quickly in Columbus, and moving our headquarters here reflects how strongly we believe in this city, our team and the opportunity to keep building from the center of a dynamic and growing region.”

The headquarters relocation follows a period of extraordinary growth. Since 2020, ANS has expanded from three employees to more than 400 professionals across 20 offices nationwide, becoming one of the country’s fastest-growing engineering firms. Along the way, the company has earned national recognition as both a Zweig Group Hot Firm and Best Firm to Work For, as well as Inc. 5000: America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

“ANS’s decision to establish its national headquarters in Columbus is yet another strong indicator that Columbus is a national center for growth and opportunity,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “We appreciate and welcome innovative, fast-moving and committed companies that invest here. When our business community thrives, it supports our neighborhoods and vitality of the city, especially when it brings new jobs and the development of an historic building in our downtown corridor.”

ANS’s work is closely tied to some of the most important infrastructure challenges facing the country, including the expansion of renewable energy, the buildout of battery storage and the modernization of the electric grid. As demand grows for engineering expertise across those sectors, the company’s Columbus headquarters will serve as a strategic base for continued expansion.

“Engineering firms like ANS are helping shape the physical systems that power economic growth, from energy infrastructure to site development,” said Jonas Peterson, chief economic development officer and president of One Columbus. “Their decision to put their national headquarters in Downtown Columbus speaks to the strength of this market, the depth of talent here and the advantages of building a business in the center of a fast-growing region. This is the kind of investment that creates jobs today and strengthens the Region’s competitive position for the future.”

The headquarters investment also reflects ANS’s long-term commitment to Ohio. With offices in both Columbus and Cleveland, the company continues to invest in the state’s workforce, communities, and economic future through local partnerships, volunteer work and neighborhood initiatives.

JobsOhio plans to provide assistance for the project, which will be made public after a final agreement is executed.

“ANS is shaping America’s next generation of infrastructure, and it has found a new headquarters location with advantages in recruiting talent and growing with confidence in the Columbus Region,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “This investment strengthens an industry that is becoming increasingly important to our state’s long-term economic success.”
