“It may be when we no longer know what we have to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey.” -Wendell Berry
The amount of change that the world has experienced in the past two years has outpaced our ability to plan for and accept change, which is exactly why we should have no limit to our excitement for the future.
This time in our history resents the greatest opportunity in several generations to begin a new economic development journey, one that rebuilds our cities, small towns, and reframes the definition of economic success.
In the Columbus Region, we were able to begin the year with a momentous announcement to help the journey as Intel chose the Columbus Region as the location of one of the largest manufacturing investments in the history of the U.S. Tens of billions of dollars will be invested here, thousands of full-time jobs will be created directly and indirectly over a generation.
This is a transformational project and it reinforces the fact that the real work of developing our economy and communities has already begun, but it must not stop until we’ve found some balance between the rate of change and our ability to digest it. Keep striving, keep working hard. Onward.
