What’s the 411?

December 2, 2013

This Friday, the Columbus Region will assemble at the Ohio Union to “get the 411” on economic development trends and issues at the second annual Economic Development 411.

Together with the Mid-Ohio Development Exchange and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, One Columbus will host more than 400 government, nonprofit, academic, workforce and private sector allies to hear from thought leaders and practitioners.

Strengthening our regional economy requires not only support by local officials, but an understanding of the challenges and competition facing our communities. An article from the Washington Post highlights that employees are worried about their job security and the economy more than ever. That is reason enough to redouble our efforts and continue to find ways to improve our economy.

Our day will kick off and end with great speakers. Economic development thought leader Mark Lautman will begin the day, and Bruce Katz of the Brookings Institution will provide insights from his recent book, The Metropolitan Revolution. Great sessions are planned all morning to discuss financing tools, workforce programs and how to prepare your community for success.
