Are you really serious about solving your biggest problems as a community? That’s a great question I heard posed twice last week in regard to separate issues.
We all have blind spots – personally, in our organizations and in our communities. But most often, we know the problems that limit our success. Perhaps we even know how to solve these issues, but we are unwilling to make the sacrifices of time and resources needed to overcome them.
What would it look like to be serious and take action on the problem? What are the first three actions you would take? What three things would move down on your priority list to make one issue the priority? Who do you need on your team to solve the problem?
For economic development professionals, there are dozens of priorities and problems to solve each year. As you consider your work to end 2017 or to achieve in 2018, the questions above are worthy ones to ask.
