Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don’t unravel. ~Author Unknown
Perhaps Thanksgiving is the most American holiday we celebrate. It is a time to take a breath, to say thank you for the blessings this country has provided to us personally and professionally, and it provides an opportunity to say thank you to those that are working every day to make this Region and this country a better place to live and work.
I would like to first take this time to thank the Columbus2020! team for their hard work these past 11 months. They have sacrificed many weekends and late hours to make Columbus2020! a reality. Their hard work is beginning to pay direct dividends by attracting and retaining jobs in the Columbus Region, and the biggest dividends are yet to come. Thank you and please keep up the great work!
I would also like to thank our Columbus2020! investors, both public and private, for providing the funding, support, and (most importantly sometimes) the encouragement and passion for making this the most dynamic regional economy in the United States. Over 125 private companies and 24 local governments have pledged their financial support for our organizations. Thank you and I hope to see you soon at our December 2nd investor update.
Finally, I would like to thank those organizations and key people that work with us every day across our Region. The economic development groups in the 11-county Region, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Columbus Partnership, Rev1 Ventures, Columbus State, the Small Business Development Centers, utility providers, and our partners at JobsOhio and the State of Ohio’s Development Services department.
Columbus2020! Update
Deb Scherer has returned from Germany where our team met with over 20 companies face-to-face and attended the Medica show to showcase our science and technology assets. Thank you to BioOhio for your terrific support. One of our team members, Katie Hamilton, attended the Economic Development Institute this week to begin the process of becoming a Certified Economic Development Professional. Thanks for your commitment to professional development, Katie. We also hosted clients over the weekend at the Ohio State football game and are looking forward to upcoming opportunities to do so with OSU basketball. We also participated in meetings with the Consul General of Turkey, the South Korean Ambassador to the U.S., and the German American Chamber of Commerce.
Our team is in Atlanta this week promoting the Region, and we plan to host clients early this week.
