Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it.
-Theodore Roosevelt
There is a dispute about whether unemployment rate is an accurate measure and what the “real” rate of unemployment has become. What is known is that for people who have certified skills for manufacturing and information technology, the employment rate is nearly 100 percent. In fact, many people with these skills have full-time jobs and also generate additional income on a project basis. These are career opportunities, not simply jobs.
While there is much discussion about the jobs of the future, we should not fail to focus on the jobs of the present day that are right in front of us. I thought I’d share some links you can forward to those who might be interested in growing careers, including parents, teachers, counselors, students and people considering a job change. What IT jobs are hot and how do you get one? What industries are growing in the manufacturing sector? How do you prepare for these jobs?
Ohio has a very diverse, strong economy, especially in manufacturing and information technology. Please visit the JobsOhio site for more background on these industries and visit the in-demand career page at Ohio Means Jobs. You’ll also find a list of Columbus Region workforce development resources here.
Helping someone find a job can be a rewarding and caring act, and sometimes it starts with a simple note.
