Anduril & Ohio Partner Together to “Rebuild the Arsenal” for Essential National Security Needs
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio announced today that Anduril Industries, a leader in defense technology, will establish an advanced manufacturing facility in Pickaway County, bringing more than 4,000 new production and service jobs to Ohio by 2035.
The five-million-square-foot facility, named Arsenal-1, represents the largest single job creation and new payroll project in Ohio’s history and is projected to add nearly $1 billion to Ohio’s gross domestic product.
By the Numbers: Anduril in Ohio
“Arsenal-1” will be a five-million-square-foot facility on 500 acres in Pickaway County near Rickenbacker International Airport, with room for future growth.
By 2035, Anduril will hire over 4,000 production and services workers—the largest single-job creation and new payroll project in Ohio’s history. And will be investing over $900 million in capital into the surrounding area.
For the state, the economic impact can’t be understated: An additional 8,500 indirect and induced jobs are expected to be created by 2035; Over $2 billion in annual economic output and over $1 billion from in-state labor income will be generated; And projected tax revenues are estimated to be roughly $800 million.
All-in, Arsenal-1 is projected to add nearly $1 billion to Ohio’s GDP.
Rebuilding the Arsenal
Arsenal-1, Anduril Industries’ newest manufacturing facility, marks a pivotal step in advancing America’s defense capabilities and industrial innovation. Located in Pickaway County near Rickenbacker International Airport, this state-of-the-art facility will produce autonomous weapons systems at an unprecedented scale, ensuring the United States and its allies remain prepared for the challenges of modern warfare. By combining cutting-edge technology with agile manufacturing, Arsenal-1 continues the Columbus Region’s long legacy of supporting national defense. This initiative represents a commitment to national security, economic resilience, and the future of American innovation.
Arsenal-1 will bring significant improvements to infrastructure, including enhanced roadways, utilities, and transportation networks, that will benefit the facility and the surrounding communities. These upgrades will support future growth and attract further investment in the Region.
Arsenal-1 will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, driving demand for goods and services from suppliers across the Columbus Region and beyond. Efforts will focus on both attracting new suppliers to the area and fostering partnerships with Ohio-based companies, reinforcing the state’s position as a leader in advanced manufacturing and defense.
These collaborations are expected to stimulate significant economic activity, supporting thousands of indirect jobs in industries such as construction, logistics, and technology, and immediately positioning the Columbus Region as a hub for cutting-edge defense manufacturing.
The Columbus Region has a storied legacy of contributing to America’s national defense, dating back to World War II when the Curtiss-Wright Corporation manufactured over 3,500 naval aircraft at its plant near Port Columbus. This heritage of innovation, manufacturing excellence, and resilience laid the foundation for the region’s ongoing commitment to supplying critical defense capabilities.
Today, with projects like Arsenal-1, the Columbus Region is building on that legacy, combining its historical strengths in manufacturing with cutting-edge technology to meet the evolving demands of modern warfare. The Region continues to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation by fostering advanced manufacturing and technological innovation.
