“I think there are things that we can all do to build resilience in ourselves, but also to build resilience in each other.”
-Sheryl Sandberg
Once again we begin a week with thoughts and prayers, this time for the people and communities that are suffering the effects of Hurricane Irma. We are still thinking of those who are just beginning their journey to clean up, restore and rebuild physically, financially and mentally from the trauma of Hurricane Harvey that hit them just days ago. This is while we also pause to reflect on the events that took place in our nation on September 11, 2001.
What these events cause us to remember is worth noting. They are a humbling reminder of the way that people come together for a common cause to assist each other when it counts most. From dramatic rescues to the simple way you see people comfort each other with a supportive hug, we are reminded of our common bonds and needs. We are also reminded of the awesome responsibility of those who plan our cities, build our infrastructure and, most of all, protect us from peril.
Our country is home to great heroes who serve us all.
