“I know of no single formula for success, but over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm, and their inspiration to work together.”
–Queen Elizabeth II
Never forget. The terror attacks of September 11 changed the lives of millions of people, defined a generation, and changed everything for generations to come. My 21 year old daughter has never known a world without metal detectors at the airport, or without the war on terrorists around the world. Thank you to our first responders who run toward the danger, and thank you to our military who keep us safe at home through their bravery around the world.
Think big. Intel’s groundbreaking here in the Columbus Region last week was a reminder for the whole country of what’s possible when we work together at all levels of the government, the private sector, and academia. The pursuit of things larger than ourselves is what economic development is all about. Thank you to the Intel team for their total commitment to community engagement. Let’s build!
Serve. The tributes to the life and leadership legacy of Queen Elizabeth are a reminder to serve others as she did for over 70 years. Her commitment to service, not just for a term or a contract period, but for a lifetime, should be held up as reminder for all of us to follow. And her embodiment of her own quote is worthy of mentioning for both men and women: “It has been women who have breathed gentleness and care into the harsh progress of mankind.”
Have a great week, lift each other up and let’s move forward.
