Columbus, Ohio – River Financial Inc., a Bitcoin-focused financial services firm that enables clients to easily integrate Bitcoin into their investment portfolios and broader financial strategies, has announced plans to open a new operations hub in Columbus, Ohio, creating 30 new jobs, pending local approvals. Hiring for engineering, accounting, cybersecurity and financial analysts will begin immediately.

River Financial’s new operations center will serve as its global hub for accounting, analytics, cybersecurity, compliance and client operations. After raising its Series A funding this year, River Financial began evaluating markets to set up an operations center outside of its headquarters in San Francisco, California, ultimately determining that the Columbus Region was the most strategic location to support future success.

“Following a year of robust growth, we’re excited to expand into Columbus’ innovation ecosystem and continue advancing the adoption of Bitcoin,” said River Financial Co-Founder and COO Andrew Benson. “River Financial has many clients in both Eastern and Central time zones, but very few cities outside of the West Coast have the foundation to support the growing cryptocurrency industry. We are impressed with Columbus’ existing strength in the financial sector and history of innovation, making it an advantageous market for our growth.”

Founded in 2019, River Financial is committed to bringing Bitcoin to investors around the world. In March 2021, the company announced it had raised $12 million in Series A funding, which is being used to expand its team and continue building industry-leading financial services to make Bitcoin more accessible to traditional investors.

“As the finance sector continues to transform with the introduction of new technologies, we plan to welcome more industry innovators like River Financial into our market,” said City of Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “Few markets in the country and even fewer in the Midwest have a presence in the cryptocurrency capital markets, so we view this as an opportunity to build our reputation as a leader in cryptocurrency.”

Finance and insurance comprise the top private sector by economic output in the Columbus Region. Global banking institutions, national insurance and service providers, and emerging technology companies are all proud to call the Columbus Region home. Columbus is home to JPMorgan Chase’s second largest employment market in the world as well as high growth companies like Root Insurance, Upstart, Beam Dental, Bold Penguin, and Homeside Financial, which position the Region as a fintech and insurtech hub. The City of Columbus is located in Franklin County, which is home to an estimated 1,316,756 residents.

“Ohio has a strong heritage of advancing the nation’s financial services sector, and we are proud that River Financial chose to expand its West Coast operations to Ohio to continue the transformation of this industry,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “River Financial is experiencing rapid growth in the Bay Area, and we look forward this innovative company converging tech and finance with talent from Ohio.”
