Columbus, Ohio – The Columbus Region has been listed No. 7 on Site Selection magazine’s ‘Top 10 Metro Areas’ list, with 81 new and expanded facilities in 2018. The Region has made Site Selection’s ‘Top 10 Metros’ list seven times in the past seven years. In years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 the Columbus Region ranked No. 10, No. 8, No. 7, No. 5, No. 8 and No. 7 respectively.

Ohio’s 454 projects earned the state the No. 2 spot in Site Selection’s overall Governors Cup state ranking – second only to Texas. Ohio also took the third-place spot in the per capital ranking, with Nebraska and Kentucky taking the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively.

“We are humbled to make the Governor’s Cup list once again, especially given the high caliber of great metropolitan regions in our category,” said Kenny McDonald, president & CEO, Columbus 2020. “Making this list for the seventh consecutive year is a testament to the strong foundation we have built over the past decade and the market-leading companies that continue to expand and locate in the Columbus Region.”

The Columbus Region earned the ranking among peer metropolitan areas with populations greater than 1 million. New facilities and expansions included in the analyses had to meet at least one of three criteria: involve a capital investment of at least U.S. $1 million, create at least 20 new jobs or add at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area.

In addition to Columbus, other Ohio cities recognized include Ashland, Cincinnati, Defiance, Findlay, Toledo and Wooster.
