Energy Economy Drives More Than $90 Million in Columbus Region Investment

Columbus, OH — Five companies are advancing projects across the Columbus Region that together represent more than $90 million in new investment and plans for nearly 680 jobs. Four of the five announcements are directly connected to rising energy demand, showing how growth in the sector is creating opportunity across manufacturing and engineering while reaching communities throughout the Region.

Burns & McDonnell: The engineering and construction firm will move to a larger Downtown Columbus office as demand grows for expertise in power generation and electrical transmission, creating capacity for more than 45 additional jobs.

Vicente Torns: The international manufacturer will invest $21 million in its first U.S. facility to produce copper and aluminum wire used in electric transformers, creating 108 jobs in West Liberty.

Westerman: The specialized energy equipment manufacturer will invest $51.5 million to expand production in Bremen and establish a nuclear manufacturing operation in Hebron, creating 345 jobs.

Wieland: The global copper and technology company will invest $15 million in a second Delaware facility to manufacture heat exchangers that keep data centers cool, creating 100 jobs.

John W. Danforth Company: The mechanical contractor will open a new manufacturing and operations facility in Dublin to support complex industrial projects, creating 80 jobs through an $850,000 investment.

As energy demand grows, companies across our Region are manufacturing the equipment and engineering the infrastructure needed to meet it, creating new opportunities for people and communities across Central Ohio.”
