Hot Chicken Takeover

Serving up Nashville-style hot chicken and a fair shot at employment

Hot Chicken Takeover (HCT) is a community-focused restaurant serving juicy, perfectly-fried Nashville hot chicken in Ohio’s Capital City. In the fall of 2013, founder Joe DeLoss and his wife experienced Nashville’s famous hot chicken culture for the first time, and they were instantly hooked on the taste, the smell, and the mix of people. When they returned home, the DeLosses experimented non-stop — feeding their family, friends, and even random strangers in a parking lot. And a few months later, Hot Chicken Takeover opened a tiny pop-up window in Olde Towne East, a vibrant neighborhood just east of downtown.

Today, HCT operates three Columbus restaurants and has plans to expand throughout Ohio and the Midwest. HCT attracts an eclectic mix of customers eager to gather around long communal tables and sip free iced tea, making the Hot Chicken Takeover experience feel more like a backyard block party than a restaurant.

Since Day One, HCT has found support and inspiration in the collaborative spirit of Columbus. From partnerships with fellow local businesses, to fundraisers with nonprofits, to a fair chance employment model — collaboration and community are woven into the fabric of the brand.
