The Primary Focus

March 10, 2020

“Good health and good sense are two of life’s greatest blessings.”
-Publilius Syrus

The economy doesn’t rest for anything or anyone. It continues through natural disasters, public health scares and market volatility.

Over the past weeks, public officials around the world have had to make some very tough decisions. They are doing so with the best information available at the given time and with their citizens interests – including their economic interests – in mind.

However, public health and safety must come first in each case, no matter the short term consequences. The primary focus, now and always, should be to protect people, especially the most vulnerable.

Note to economic developers:
Please make special efforts to reach out directly to companies to learn the numerous ways that this global business disruption has and will impact them directly or indirectly. Collect, aggregate and share these insights with your leadership and elected officials.

Connect with your local service providers to see if you can work with them to help businesses in the short term and help them find and use national, state and local resources.

We live in a great country and we will respond to this challenge as we always do – together.

Let’s get healthy and then let’s get back to work.
