Quantum Health to Add More Than 500 Jobs in the Columbus Region

April 30, 2012

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Responding to a rapidly growing demand of care coordination services, Ohio-based Quantum Health, Inc. announced that it will expand its Columbus facility, more than doubling its workforce in the Columbus Region over the next three years.

Quantum Health will invest more than $3 million to support its growth. The expansion will add 525 jobs to the company’s existing 230 employees in Columbus. The positions will include Registered Nurses and Patient Service Representatives (PSRs), as well as information technology, marketing, customer engagement and other support positions.

“We have been very successful at effectively applying consumer behavior strategies for our healthcare clients,” said Kara Trott, founder, Quantum Health. “The demand for our services grew at an extremely fast pace, and prompted the exploration of expansion options. As a business we evaluated the best location to undertake our growth, either in the Columbus Region or locations outside of Ohio. The support offered through the City of Columbus, Franklin County and the State of Ohio played an important role in our location decision. Ultimately this will allow us to continue to provide exceptional service to our clients, resulting in dramatically higher member engagement and greater cost savings.”

Said Kenny McDonald, chief economic officer, Columbus 2020, “We’re proud to see one of the Columbus Region’s existing companies make an even longer-term investment in the Region, adding hundreds of job opportunities. Our hope is to continue to make the Columbus Region an ideal spot for companies looking to relocate or expand in a stable regional economy.”

Columbus 2020, the 11-county regional economic development entity, has focused its efforts both on attracting new businesses to the Region and assisting existing businesses expand. Since the start of 2012, the organization has completed or is in the process of working with nearly 40 existing companies within the Region on prospective expansion projects. These projects represent more than 8,000 retained positions, more than 3,100 new jobs and more than $310 million in capital investment.

“Visionary businesses like Quantum Health are what make Columbus the best city for jobs in the Midwest,” said Mayor Michael B. Coleman. “This expansion further strengthens our economy while providing new employment opportunities for our residents. I want to thank Quantum, Franklin County and the State of Ohio for helping to make this possible.”

In addition to helping Quantum Health commit to adding more than 500 jobs over the next three years, a portion of the Region’s funding incentives will finance a job training program at the facility. The program will focus specifically on improving care coordination by training employees to better interpret and act on electronic medical records (EMRs) and health information exchanges (HIEs). Franklin County, in particular, is investing $75,000 toward the program.

“As the county, city, state and Columbus 2020 work together to create opportunities for business growth here in Central Ohio, we are also investing in ways to help companies train and grow their workforce,” said Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks. “Our strategy to attract new businesses and retain the companies we already have in Franklin County is ultimately about putting and keeping people in good- paying, stable jobs.”
