Columbus, OH – Koorsen Fire & Security Inc. (Koorsen), one of the nation’s largest fire and security companies, has announced plans to expand its operations in Columbus, investing more than $1 million and creating 25 new jobs. Hiring for technicians, sales and back office support positions will begin in Q2 2018.

The 14,000-square-foot expansion of the existing facility at 727 Manor Park Drive will accommodate the company’s growth in the Midwest and help meet growing demand for its fire protection and commercial security products and services. Koorsen will invest $1.1 million for building costs and $200,000 for workforce training.

“The ability to easily reach our Midwest customer base from Columbus will help us increase capacity while providing us with the flexibility to scale our business,” said Randy Koorsen, president & CEO at Koorsen. “Our decision to expand was bolstered by the business environment in the Columbus Region and Ohio.”

Koorsen has been operating since 1946 and is a market leader in installing and maintaining fire protection and security systems for businesses of all sizes. According to OSHAcademy, more than 70,000 U.S. workplaces each year experience a serious fire, with total property losses adding up to more than $2 billion nationally. From restaurants and small businesses to large-scale manufacturing facilities, Koorsen is certified to design, install, program, service and repair fire and security products for any business.

“We’re excited that Koorsen is continuing to grow in Columbus,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “We’re proud that Columbus’ position as a fast growing, talented metro area helps contribute to the success of market leaders like Koorsen.”

“Along with Columbus 2020, we are thrilled to see another industry leader grow in Central Ohio,” said Ted Griffith, JobsOhio managing director for logistics and distribution. “Koorson’s expansion will help grow jobs in Columbus and support businesses throughout the Midwest that depend on its security and safety products.”

The Columbus Region continues to be ranked as a top location for business expansions in the U.S. Earlier this month, the Region took the No. 7 spot on Site Selection magazine’s ‘Top 10 Metro Areas’ for new and expanded facilities, with 99 attractions and expansions in 2017.
