Columbus Recreation and Culture
Columbus isn't just for sports spectators—it's for people who love to get out there and participate. From golf to cycling, skating to skiing, swimming to trail running, you'll find the courses, trails, gyms, parks, rinks, courts and pools you need to get out and get going. You'll also find like-minded individuals who share your passion.
Opportunities to experience nature abound in the Columbus Region. If you crave green space, you won't have to go far to get your fill. From the Metro Parks, which cover more than 26,000 acres of land and water and 175 miles of trails, to beautiful park systems operated by our cities and villages, it's hard not to find a spot to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
If arts are your passion, this is your place. The Places Almanac calls Columbus "one of the nation's best metro areas for the arts." Take in a touring Broadway show at the historic Ohio or Palace Theatres, catch a Shakespeare play at Schiller Park, enjoy outdoor music with Picnic with the Pops, or see screenings of the latest foreign films at The Wexner Center for the Arts.
You can attend the ballet and opera, or catch some of the country's hottest jazz talent at the annual Jazz and Rib Fest. Discover Monet at the Columbus Museum of Art or Dinosaurs at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI). Whatever you most enjoy—theatre, music, museums, dance, galleries, festivals—you'll find it here.
