Economic Sectors

The Columbus Region has diversified economic sectors where no single major industry sector represents more than 18 percent of employment. Finance and insurance, advanced manufacturing, health, logistics and other industries are complemented by the presence of The Ohio State University and the state capital.

In the past decade, the fastest growing sectors have been education and health (+21 percent), transportation and utilities (+12 percent), and professional and business services (+13 percent). Continued investment in the Rickenbacker Global Logistics Park and other areas of the region's logistics sector has been a major factor in the growth of transportation and utilities.
