Export Counseling

U.S. Commercial Service - Central Ohio
The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. Its Central Ohio office leverages a network of experienced tradecraft staff in 150+ cities and over 70 countries worldwide to connect area exporters to buyers and international partners while offering comprehensive export counseling and services.

Ohio International Trade Assistance Center
Part of the Ohio Development Services Agency, ITAC offers free to low-cost export counseling services include international business planning, compliance, documentation, financing and logistics. Other services include education and promotion events, market research assistance and the Ohio Export Internship Program.

Business Opportunities

Business Information Database System
BIDS is a web-based portal to help U.S. businesses learn about significant international commercial opportunities. The site features a map and detailed information of projects with potential contract or tender opportunities. It also provides information to contact U.S. embassies overseas.

Financing

U.S. Small Business Administration
SBA provides a number of loan programs specifically designed to help develop or expand trade and export activities. SBA also has trade promotion and finance managers located in its U.S. Export Assistance Centers, including its Ohio center.

Export-Import Bank of the United States
Ex-Im Bank is the official export credit agency of the United States. It does not compete with private sector lenders but provides export financing products that fill gaps in trade financing. Ex-Im Bank assumes credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept, and provides working capital guarantees (pre-export financing), export credit insurance, and loan guarantees and direct loans (buyer financing).

Trade Missions

U.S. Department of Commerce
Department of Commerce trade missions are overseas programs for U.S. firms that want to explore and pursue export opportunities by meeting directly with potential clients in their markets. Trade missions include one-to-one meetings foreign industry executives and government officials, networking events with guests from local industry multipliers, briefings and roundtables with the legal and business community, site visits and media coverage.

Council of Great Lakes Governors
CGLG leads multi-state trade missions to assist small- to medium-sized companies export their goods and services. Trade missions allow companies to visit international markets as part of an organized group of business people. Each participant receives one-on-one business appointments with interested distributors and agents customized by the Council's International Trade Offices.

Food Export Association of the Midwest USA
Food Export-Midwest offers the opportunity to participate in focused trade missions throughout the year. This service offers U.S. companies both a sales opportunity and educational experience.  The missions bring a group of U.S. companies to a country to learn first-hand about the market and meet face-to-face with local buyers.
