Sage Sustainable Electronics Announces $2.5 Million Investment for its Columbus Headquarters and Production Facility; Creation of 50 Jobs

October 27, 2014

Columbus, OH – Sage Sustainable Electronics, a newly created sustainable electronics company, today announced it will invest more than $2.5 million to open its headquarters and processing center on the west side of Columbus. The expansion will add an estimated 50 technology sector jobs, including headquarters and production personnel.

“Sage Sustainable Electronics’ mission is to extend the useful life of used electronics through repair, refurbishment and distribution to new users. We believe Columbus provides us with an ideal spot for our headquarters and first operating facility,” said Michael Keegan, CFO, Sage Sustainable Electronics. “The area hosts a large number of Fortune 1000 companies with strong investments in technology, and we can build relationships with an abundance of small- and medium- sized businesses. Locating operations in Columbus also gives us the opportunity to capitalize on a very high quality workforce and extensive logistics and distribution infrastructure.”

The company is investing in systems and application development, production equipment and other improvements in an existing 26,000-square-foot facility at 2801 Charter Street in Columbus, which is planned to be operational in January 2015. Sage anticipates that hiring could begin by the end of this year, with all 50 new positions in place by 2017.

“We’re thrilled that this innovative, new company, with such a unique business model, has chosen to pursue their mission to change the world from right here in Columbus,” said Mayor Michael B. Coleman. “Watching Sage grow and helping to put technology to work for many in the world who haven’t had access, all while making an impact on sustainability, will be a true pleasure.”

A city incentive for the project is contingent upon final approval from Columbus City Council, expected to go to a vote in November 2014.
